History of the Club and Aims of the Sports club.
History of Bossley Sports Incorporated Bossley Sports Club Inc formerly, known as Mary Immaculate Sports Inc, has enjoyed a long standing relationship within sectors of the community, such as the Mary Immaculate Parish and also Mary Immaculate Primary School, both of which are located at 110 Mimosa Road Bossley Park. The club was formed by the Parish Priest at the time, Fr Peter Neville and the school principal, Ms. Faulder and numerous other community members. This was followed by the first ever club meeting at which a committee elected, this occurred in 1986 and in the following year members from throughout the local and wider community were able to register and be a part of Mary Immaculate (now Bossley Sports) first season where the members were allowed to play either netball or soccer. The club was founded and has continued to foster social unity and development, this fact is highlighted by the philosophies which are held in Bossley Sports Club Incorporated’s BY-LAWS and CONSTITUTION, one of the most important beliefs within the club is that every player, regardless of their playing experience or ability should be given equal time playing on the field or court within their chosen sport, this factor sets us apart from of major clubs within our district which are mainly concerned with producing trophies rather then confident and healthy individuals. Bossley Sports’ Aims It is our vision that through providing the local community with the chance to be involved in and play the sport of netball we will be able to foster individual member’s confidence, physical and social well-being, while supporting the wider community. The clubs aims seek to actively help members enjoy, learn and build confidence which will aid individuals, in their future endeavours, and society by providing the necessary life and communication skill with develop through involvement in team sports, such as netball. Bossley Sports members range in age from four years old to fifty years old. The club endeavours to cater for all playing abilities, whether they are playing for the first time or are experienced players. Our club has had one player who suffers from a disability which has resulted in her being both sight and hearing impaired, through her involvement within her team she has not only expressed her joy and enrichment that that she has experience but also was able to develop friendships among her peers and other members throughout the club. However one of the more pressing aims of the club has become the need to be able to purchase new equipment, to pay umpires and to keep the cost of registration and uniforms down for our members. In order to help achieve our aims we strive to send all our coaches to coaching courses, and our umpires to umpiring courses, to ensure that our members are receiving the necessary coaching to enable them to become more confident and the develop skills, which inturn in nurture increased fitness and health. Furthermore the club intents to hold clinics for our players to be attended with experience personnel to display and educate them how to play and enjoy netball.
